CTG on Facebook:
Cox Tutoring Group is a caring, student-centered tutoring practice specializing in getting your son or daughter ready for the widely required SAT and ACT tests and supporting students with regular academic Math and Science, Reading and Writing.
We coach your child through all portions of the SATs and/or ACTs, paying particular attention to his/her individual concerns and weak spots. We provide your children with the skills, strategies and confidence they need to do well on this very important step in their academic journey.
We're experienced and thorough, and our students have enjoyed good success at "bumping up" their post-tutoring SAT scores (average increase for hundreds of my students in the classes of 2004 through 2018 was 180+ points, and one of my '09 students raised his score 240 points to achieve a perfect score!). CTG students have been accepted at some wonderful colleges including Dartmouth, Wellesley, William and Mary, UPenn, Brown, Tufts, West Point, Boston College, Brandeis, UMaryland, UConn, Ohio State, Purdue, Cornell, Vanderbilt, Furman, Loyola Maryland, George Washington, Quinnipiac, Union College, Trinity College, Providence College, Sacred Heart, RPI, Syracuse, Salve Regina and Florida State. And if your student needs help brainstorming or polishing that crucial college application essay, I am experienced in this area as well, having helped hundreds of students with their college essays going back as far as 2002.
I am pleased to announce the addition of a new in-office tutor to my practice. Benjamin Cox will see students beginning in the summer of 2018. Ben earned his Phi Beta Kappa key as an undergraduate at Dartmouth (2007), a Master's degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (2011), and his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin (2018), where he also served as both teaching assistant and instructor of record. His honors thesis at Dartmouth received the Jonathan B Rintels Prize as the most outstanding undergraduate thesis in the Humanities. Dr Cox will prepare students for the SAT and ACT with a particular focus on the English, Writing&Language and Reading portions of those tests.
CTG was joined in the summer of 2015 by Michael Yu, a 2014 graduate of the University of Toronto whose specialty, in addition to SAT and ACT prep, is helping your child if (s)he needs coaching in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calc, or Calculus at any level as well as high school Chemistry and Physics. Regular weekly tutoring sessions can make sure that your child doesn't fall behind or get lost just because of a difficulty with one concept or another.
In addition to connecting you with our in-office tutors, CTG may be able to refer you to experienced tutors in several other subjects. Please email me to inquire about tutors in academic subjects that we don't cover in-office.
