QUESTION:
Which colleges superscore SAT / ACT?

And what IS "superscore" anyway?

The superscore is the total SAT or ACT score you get by combining your best verbal score and your best math score on the SAT or your best individual English, Math, Reading and Science scores on the ACT even if they come from different test dates. Here is a link to a document that tells how individual colleges regard multiple submitted scores: {SAT and ACT superscore and score choice policies}. Be aware that YOU don't do the superscoring - there is a spot on the Common App where you enter your high score on individual sections of the SAT and/or ACT (and other tests, like IB), but the colleges won't take your word for your scores. You must send an official report for any date for which you have entered a high score on the Common App.

You may know that the SAT essay is now a thing of the past, causing every potential SAT-taker to breathe a sigh of relief.

As of 2021, there are only 8 schools in the US that still require the ACT essay (or haven't clarified otherwise):
Martin Luther College (MN)
Molloy College (NY)
Soka University of America (CA)
United States Military Academy (West Point) (NY)
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX)
University of Montana Western (MT)
Wyoming Catholic College (WY)
Yellowstone Christian College (MT)

Currently, only six additional schools specifically state on their websites that they recommend the ACT essay:
Colorado School of Mines (CO)
Bethune-Cookman University (FL)
Morehouse College (GA)
Molloy College (NY)
Hardin-Simmons University (TX)
Brigham Young University (UT)
