Benjamin Cox, PhD

Benjamin earned his Phi Beta Kappa key as a Dartmouth undergraduate in 2007, a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 2011, and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018. At UT Austin he served as both teaching assistant and instructor of record. His Dartmouth honors thesis was recognized as the most outstanding undergraduate thesis in the Humanities. He prepares students for all SAT and ACT sections, with particular focus on English, Writing and Language, Reading, and ACT Science, and offers college essay support to his tutoring students.

Joyce McGregor, MA

Joyce has 35 years of teaching experience, principal licensure awarded in 2004, and a passion for language: reading comprehension, critical reading, writing and grammar. She meets students virtually and welcomes middle-school and early-high-school students for verbal-reasoning tutoring before test-specific preparation. She also supports students who are strong in math but need help with SAT verbal areas or ACT English, Reading and Science.

James McGregor, PhD

STEM test prep · Biology through AP

James earned his PhD from Emory University in May 2021 and pursued postdoctoral work at Washington University in St. Louis. He first worked with CTG after graduating from Brandeis and later returned as a virtual tutor. James specializes in the STEM portions of the SAT and ACT as well as Biology through AP level.

April Ratliff, PhD

April completed her doctoral studies in Biology at Emory and defended her dissertation in September 2023. She has tutored for well-known national tutoring companies and joined CTG’s virtual team of STEM specialists.

Referrals beyond the core team

CTG may be able to refer families to experienced tutors in other academic areas, including middle- and high-school Math, Physics, Statistics, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.

Donna may also be able to refer families to an experienced Chemistry tutor - Mansukhbir Singh.
